Mentor Employment Agreement

Please read this Agreement carefully. By submitting a job application for this position, you agree to adhere to the following terms.


This Mentor Employment Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into by and between the SchoolWay Mentors, LLC, hereinafter referred to as “SchoolWay Mentors,” and you, the individual employed as a Mentor, hereinafter referred to as the “Employee.” This Agreement outlines the terms and conditions of employment and the respective obligations of both parties.

This Agreement is conditional upon your acceptance as a mentor with the SchoolWay Mentors, LLC (“SchoolWay Mentors”). Your application for the mentor position will be reviewed, and if your application is accepted by SchoolWay Mentors, this Agreement will become legally binding upon both parties. Until such acceptance, you are not considered an employee or mentor of SchoolWay Mentors, and no rights or obligations under this Agreement shall be in effect.


For in-person mentors, it is agreed that mentoring sessions will not be conducted at students’ homes. However, in-person sessions may take place at accessible public places, such as libraries.

The Employee’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing one-on-one guidance to students, tailored to their unique strengths, weaknesses, and goals.
  • Offering academic support to help students excel in various subjects, including assistance with homework, test preparation, and study techniques.
  • Collaborating with students to set and achieve academic and personal development goals.
  • Inspiring and motivating students to remain engaged and focused on their objectives.
  • Fostering students’ personal growth, including the development of skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.
  • Maintaining open and consistent communication with students to provide ongoing guidance and support.
  • Providing constructive feedback to students on their academic performance and personal development, enabling continuous improvement.
  • Keeping detailed records of mentoring sessions and student progress.


Compensation for subject mentoring is set at $15 per hour, and compensation for test prep mentoring is set at $17.5 per hour.

An additional compensation of $0.5 per mile from the Employee’s residence to the meeting location is paid out to the Employee for travel expenses.

If the Employee is requested and agrees to work additional mentoring sessions beyond their agreed schedule, the hourly pay for the extra sessions will increase by $2.5 per hour.

Bonuses may be granted at the sole discretion of SchoolWay Mentors.

Work Schedule

The Employee has the option to select the number of sessions per week they wish to work.

The Employee has the flexibility to choose the days and times for their mentoring sessions. The maximum number of mentoring sessions that an Employee may undertake per week is 30.

Employees may request breaks from mentoring for a period of up to one year if they have not already arranged any mentoring sessions during this period. If the Employee is unable to work after a one-year break, the Employee may be terminated.

Session Cancellations

The Employee has the right to cancel scheduled mentoring sessions with a minimum of 24 hours notice. In cases where the Employee cancels sessions without the 24-hour notice, they may be subject to penalties and actions deemed necessary by SchoolWay Mentors.

In exceptional circumstances, such as illness, family events, or extraordinary circumstances, the Employee may cancel sessions with less than 24 hours’ notice.


The Employee shall maintain the confidentiality of all information shared by SchoolWay Mentors, including but not limited to resources, student records, performance data, and any proprietary information related to the business.

Professional Conduct

The Employee shall conduct themselves in a respectful and appropriate manner when performing their mentoring duties.

Employees are expected to adhere to a dress code appropriate for mentoring, whether conducted online or in person.

Liability and Termination

SchoolWay Mentors reserves the right to terminate the employment of the Employee with or without reason.

The Employee agrees to provide at least two weeks’ notice in the event of termination of this Agreement.

In cases where the Employee engages in inappropriate behavior or indecent acts during mentoring sessions, SchoolWay Mentors disclaims liability for such actions. The Employee may be subject to termination without any liability on the part of SchoolWay Mentors.

The Employee agrees to indemnify and hold harmless SchoolWay Mentors from any legal actions, claims, or damages arising from their actions during the course of mentoring.

Additional Protections and Requirements

Both parties to this Agreement shall respect each other’s individuality and treat each other accordingly. Both parties shall attempt to be flexible and work at solving problems as they arise, fostering a positive and constructive work relationship.

Any original content, materials, or resources created by the Employee for SchoolWay Mentors will be owned by SchoolWay Mentors.

If the Employee has any concerns or disputes about the Service, the Employee agrees to first try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting SchoolWay Mentors. A process for conflict resolution between the Mentor and SchoolWay Mentors is established, including the use of mediation or arbitration if the previous fails.

SchoolWay Mentors is committed to providing a safe working environment, and safety protocols and guidelines will be followed.

Any legal matters related to this Agreement will be governed by the laws of the state of Texas.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, such provision will be changed and interpreted to accomplish the objectives of such provision to the greatest extent possible under applicable law and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

This Agreement may have been translated if SchoolWay Mentors had made it available. The Employee agrees that the original English text shall prevail in the case of a dispute.

If a revision is material We will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at Our sole discretion.

The Employee shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing the employment relationship, including any local, state, or federal labor and employment laws.
